YouTube App Now Has an Easy Way of Rewinding and Fast Forwarding 10 Seconds. Posted: 17 Dec 2016 07:36 AM PST I'm sorry if this was already known in the community, but I just accidentally discovered this 5 minutes ago while watching a video. I'm thinking maybe it was added in the latest YouTube update? Or maybe I just didn't notice it from before. So basically while watching a video, Fullscreen or not, if you double tap either side of the video, it will either rewind or fast forward 10 seconds. Example, double tap on the left side and it rewinds 10 seconds. Keep tapping more and it keeps rewinding back 10 seconds until tapping is done. If this was already common knowledge, oops. I was very happy to see this because it was always so frustrating to rewind juuuuuuust a bit. Have a good day. [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2016 09:36 AM PST Really helpful and quick if you want to search for an app in the app drawer. Alternatively you had to pull up the dock, tap on the little search box and then type. Here's a gif in action: https://gfycat.com/PessimisticElegantJunebug Edit: removed accidental dick. [link] [comments]

Why are there so many "Guide To [InsertGameHere]" apps on Google Play? Posted: 17 Dec 2016 01:00 PM PST Why is that the case? Do people even use them? I find they are either very bad, don't work at all, or are just full of ads. [link] [comments]

Why doesn't Android support media scrubbers in notifications? Posted: 17 Dec 2016 02:41 AM PST You know what I mean. On iPhones, having the ability to scrub through your music or video from any app through the control centre is such a luxury. You can move forward or back by grabbing the handle along the timeline and dragging left or right. This lets you easily scrub back to a section of a song or audio book that you want to relisten to without leaving your current activity. On the other hand, I have never found an app that provides such a control on Android, let alone any support threads that even bring up this topic. It's like we're all blind to the wonderful functionality that scrubbers bring. It's probably a limitation of the Android notification and widget system. I know notifications can currently only have 5 maximum buttons on media widgets, which is ridiculous. Isn't Android supposed to be the king of notifications and widgets? Tell me I'm not the only one looking for a solution or an update from Google implementing a universal media scrubber. [link] [comments]
Tips for keeping older Android phone secure? Posted: 17 Dec 2016 08:28 AM PST I just recently picked up a Verizon Galaxy s6 after having bought, used, sold several phones over the past year. I really like it. It performs great, great camera, nice form factor, I have zero complaints, except that it has about one year left - if that - before it becomes abandon-ware 😣 I'd like to use this phone for another two or three years as I'm just tired of changing phones every few months. So question is, what, if any, steps can I take to keep it secure after it stops receiving updates? Let's assume here that no root method is ever discovered. [link] [comments]

If Blackberry had gone with Android instead of developing BBOS10, what would have been different? Posted: 17 Dec 2016 11:23 AM PST I would think that they would have been a lot more successful had they went with Android and had made the Priv 2 years earlier. It would make the statement that physical keyboards weren't crap. [link] [comments]
