How to turn off Android N Beta automatically removing apps from multitasking Posted: 30 May 2016 12:56 PM PDT I'm running the Android N Beta (Preview 3 I believe) on my Nexus 6p and it's removing apps from my multitasking list very frequently. I know this is not a bug and that it's something Google talked about however it is so aggressive, there's got to be a way to turn it off. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 May 2016 12:48 PM PDT I have a new android phone that currently has no apps and no access to the play store. I want to get access to the play store but I will need my google password. But how do I get my looong password to the phone without downloading apps from the play store? I connected to wifi via WPS. No problem there. Possible ways to solve the problem.

Can't sign into my Google Play games account Posted: 30 May 2016 11:21 AM PDT I just did a factory reset of my phone and when I reinstalled my games (Clash Royale and Boom Beach) I wasn't able to sign into my account, only had the option to make a new one [link] [comments] |
MetroPCS Kyocera Hydro Wave - 5.1 Posted: 30 May 2016 12:33 PM PDT Hello folks. After trying to use ancient rooting methods on my Kyocera Hydro Wave I got desperate when I read this XDA Thread and attempted to use some one-click methods, with no luck;
All of the methods just stop and/or say unavailable. Does anyone know why there is such an issue rooting this phone? Can anyone suggest how I could do it manually? I have USB Debugging on. ADB on Win7 connects while booted into Android, but I am having issues connecting while its in Recovery. I have tried using the Intel ADB Composite Driver Suite and the Tencent Drivers no change. This is not for praise, as I didn't do anything, but I was able to get its sister phone the Hydro Life rooted easily; I believe with RootGenius/KingRoot. Kyocera has the kernel code for the specific device, Hydro WAVE C6740N 5.1 (2.016TM) available on their site. Any input at all would be very helpful. TL;DR: Need temp or perm root on Hydro Wave/Kyocera C6740N running And 5.1 Thank you for your time. UPDATE: KingoRoot EXE did complete, claim rooted successfully, and was verified by CCleaner's root verification. acore.process and launcher, and other stuff crashed, and a hailstorm of OK dialogs occurred. Root was lost after reboot. How can I make this root persistent? [link] [comments] |
Weird apps using a lot of data Posted: 30 May 2016 02:03 PM PDT I've noticed these apps using a ton of data and I can't figure out what they are. I can't find them on my phone either. The 10131, 10152, and fish pond apps are ones I've never seen before. Does anyone know what they are? [link] [comments] |
Android is upgrading problem. Please help! Posted: 30 May 2016 12:20 PM PDT thank you all in advance, a few weeks ago I had a problem with google play services that I fixed by installing an updated apk of it I found on the web (since it didn't want to update from the play store) since then though everytime I reboot my phone I get the "android is upgrading" "optimizing app 1of 298" and I need to wait for like 20 min for my phone to turn on. I've tried clearing the cache and dalvik cache, installing the right google play services for my phone etc. nothing works, I really don't want to factory reset my phone. I have a Note 3 BTW. this problem is killing me.. any help will be very much appreciated, thank you. [link] [comments] |
Backing up SMS from my android device. Posted: 30 May 2016 09:14 AM PDT Hey everyone, I know other threads about this exist here, but when checking them, there is just mountains of different opinions and everything, so I figure it might not hurt to ask the question here as I really want to make sure I get it right. Long story short, my best friend died in a motorcycle accident a year and a half ago. I have all our SMS convos on my phone (MotoX first gen) and want to make sure I never lose them. However, my phone is slow as molasses, and I want to factory reset it to get things moving again. I have tried a few SMS back up apps, and they all convert it into an XML file, which kinda defeats the purpose as I have to decipher each text that was sent between lines of other code... Is there a way to read such an XML file as a conversation (i.e. as it shows up on one's phone)? If it helps, I use mainly the hangouts app, regardless whether it's an SMS or a Hangouts message. However, all the texts I wish to back up right now are SMS only. Does anyone have any tips or insight they could give me? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Settings up email in Gmail app Posted: 30 May 2016 11:47 AM PDT I really like the stock Gmail app on Android so I decided to try to get my main email (Outlook) to automatically forward to my Gmail account. I initially set up the email account on the app as an Outlook account but it seemed to not work too well. In the settings, it seems that there is only an option to retrieve the email every 5 minutes. I would much rather have it sync instantly. To remedy this, I tried to add my outlook account in gmail settings but it seems to still have some latency since the emails that are in my Outlook arrive to my phone about 30min later. Also, for some reason, the Outlook emails that are transferred over to the Gmail get sent to the trash bin as soon as the emails have shown up in the gmail. I just want to be able to check my email on my Outlook and the Gmail app in tandem. Thanks for your help! [link] [comments] |
Blu Studio X+ MTK6582 - Can't Find Partition Mount Points Posted: 30 May 2016 11:46 AM PDT I'm attempting to port a ROM to my Blu Studio X+, which at the moment is running stock 5.0.2 firmware with Linux kernel 3.10.54. I was able to copy over the files needed from the stock ROM (which I got from extracting the system.img with 7zip), as well as patch the boot.img file. However, I am stuck on the part where the updater-script needs to be changed on the port ROM so the /system and /data partitions match where they are on the device I am porting to. Normally this would be easy, as I would just read the updater-script from the stock ROM... but the stock ROM image I found did not come with one, and I was not able to find any other ROMs for this device I could use. The stock ROM image I got only contains a boot image, system image, secro image, recovery image, scatter file (which seems to crash SP Flash Tools upon opening), MBR file, EBR file, lk.bin, logo.bin, and preloader.bin. I resorted to other methods to find the mount points. /proc/partitions gives me all the mmcblk partitions supposedly in use but it only gives me "major" and "minor" indicators for each partition so I don't know which is /system or /data. /proc/mounts does not list system or data partitions at all. Through various places for checking partitions, none tell me where /system is mounted, and i can only find a mount for something called "userdata", but I assume that is not /data. Can anyone help me out here? All I need are where to find /system and /data mount points (in terms of mmcblk). EDIT: Reading through the dmesg file, I found this line: "<12>[ 40.832371] (3)[208:logd.auditd]type=1400 audit(1464631584.583:15): avc: denied { write } for pid=2594 comm="app_process32_o" name="system@framework@boot.art" dev="mmcblk0p7" ino=284485 scontext=u:r:shell:s0 tcontext=u:object_r:dalvikcache_data_file:s0 tclass=file permissive=0" Judging from this, I'd say /system is mounted at mmcblk0p7, but I still can't find anything on where /data is. Kmesg gives the same message, but again nothing on /data. [link] [comments] |
How to flash ElementalX over another custom kernel? Posted: 30 May 2016 10:48 AM PDT I'm currently using the Kylo kernel and I tried installing ElementalX instead... but it said that I shouldn't install it over another custom kernel, so what should I do? [link] [comments] |
S4 **Still** laggy, what to do to fix it? Posted: 30 May 2016 10:24 AM PDT I posted here 20 days ago about my S4 being really laggy, and I was suggested to "Settings, storage, delete cache then Reboot to recovery, clear cache". I did that and it seemed to fix it for a few days but then it is terrible again, and I keep having to do this. Will a factory rest fix my issues? I am backing up all my stuff from the phone on to my laptop right now just in case. Any other options? Also it fails to connect to android auto in my chevy mylink, about %40 of the time, saying android auto and or maps has crashed. [link] [comments] |
Need Advice on Buying a Tablet for T Mobile Using Cyanogenmod Posted: 30 May 2016 02:09 PM PDT Hello all First off, thanks for reading my post. I am looking for advice on what tablet to buy. I am going with T Mobile and I need to know what 4g tablets I can use with Cyanogenmod. I have been looking at compatibility lists and it seems I am missing something. The T Mobile page does not show a lot of options, and I am not sure what versions I need. I appreciate your input. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Galaxy S6, looking for an easy way to root Posted: 30 May 2016 02:04 PM PDT Title pretty much explains it, I am looking for a relatively easy way to root. Oneplus One forgets wifi passwords. Posted: 30 May 2016 05:14 AM PDT My Oneplus One running stock CyanogenOS 13 (Android 6.0) keeps forgetting wifi passwords, even without rebooting and without toggling wifi on or off. I've been looking at other threads but nothing seems to work. Does someone have a clue? [link] [comments] |
How can I backup everything on my rooted Note 4? (Every single thing) Posted: 30 May 2016 01:17 PM PDT This might seem like a newbie question but this isn't the case. I already know Titanium backup exists and I have been using it for years. However a few months back I suffered from an''infamous brick'' caused by an unofficial CM13 ROM which rendered my phone uselss and all efforts to restore using odin were thwarted. (PIT files, repartionining, etc) DID NOT help me back then. This brick corrupted everything on my phone (EFS Partition, etc) and the ONLY thing i could ever boot into no matter what I did was the recovery. 2 months and $150 later in repairs (literally everyone failed to fix it software-side) I learned my lesson I need to back up my entire phone incase something like this happens again. What app should I use, and what should I back up? [link] [comments] |

4.4 or 5.1 based rom for S3 Mini. Posted: 30 May 2016 07:31 AM PDT Hi guys. I want to borrow my gf a S3 Mini. What rom should I flash, a 4.4 or 5.1 based? Basically, my gf when comes to tech has a no fuss no muss attitude, so the phone should run with no hiccups and the battery should last a day. The phone comes with 4.1.2, works fine, but i'm afraid some apps will drop support to it and would like to upgrade just to be sure. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Can someone explain this to me and do other phones have the same warning? [link] [comments] |
Why do a lot of iPhone users switch to android then come back to iPhone? Posted: 30 May 2016 07:42 AM PDT Let me start this off by saying I am very interested in getting an android. I've been team iPhone forever but as I do more developing and want more customization android seems like the superior product. However, what makes me nervous is that a lot of people I've know over the years try android then go back to iPhone because it was clunky or slow or just didn't feel as good of a phone as iPhone. Now I know that's not scientific sounding but that's also the point I'm making. Feeling good about a phone is what iPhone seems to do well. Intuitively the user "seems" to have a great time. And android on paper seems like a superior product but in practice maybe not so? All I'm looking for out of this post is, can you all address these patterns I've seen and maybe as veteran users explain why people may feel this way? Also why android really is a superior experience? Thank you in advance! [link] [comments] |
I'm visiting China right now. Whenever I connect to a wifi network, it thinks there is no internet Posted: 30 May 2016 03:01 PM PDT I get the little exclamation mark by the wifi icon meaning connected, but no internet. This makes the phone use 2g networks (my phone isn't compatible with LTE bands here) instead of wifi. I assume this is because the server it checks connectivity with is a Google server, which is blocked here. Anyway to fix it? [link] [comments] |
Should I go Dual SIM or Dual phone? Posted: 30 May 2016 02:53 PM PDT So I am looking at setting up my own business which will be based around in-person attendance with clients on their premises/in their homes. I really don't want to use my personal mobile number as a business line and be getting business calls at off times so I want to get a separate business number. Should I be getting a second handset or would a dual-SIM handset suit better? I am not familiar with the use of such handsets, hence asking here. Currently: I am in the UK and currently have an LG G4 (H815 single SIM) which I quite like. It's an unlocked handset and I have a rolling 30 day SIM-only contract with 4G on Tesco Mobile which I am happy with. I can easily get a second SIM on similar terms. What I am after: No reduction in current service on personal line; 2nd line needs to offer:
So, can this be done with a dual SIM handset such as the dual SIM version of the LG G4 or am I better off getting a second handset that I can simply turn on for work and off when I am done for the day? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Phone Stuck in Bootloop PLEASE HELP! Posted: 30 May 2016 02:51 PM PDT So I tried to root my phone with the WinDroid Toolkit and after I installed TWRP and SuperSu my phone got stuck in the bootloop. I sideloaded a new version of SuperSu onto my phone then it was still doing the same thing so then I tried to sideload another version but it didn't go so then I went into the file manager and deleted everything inside the supersu folder then I tried to sideload again and it still wouldn't send it over then I tried sending over another zip file and it worked then I tried Su again and it didn't work so then I went searching online and I found Su systemless root and people said it worked so then I downloaded it and tried to send it over and it worked so then I boot up my phone and it's still stuck at the screen with the blue motorola logo sticker and it says android at the bottom. I also before doing the systemless root wiped the data cache and dalvik and nothing happened after that. I'm not sure what to do next. Also there's still nothing in the SuperSu folder even though I sideloaded a new one over. Thanks I'm using Moto X Pure Edition XT1575 Android 6.0 TWRP version 3.0.0-0 (idk which version i'm still on) SuperSu (the version that WinDroid installed), SuperSu 2.56, SuperSu 2.74, SuperSu Beta systemless 2.67 Also idk if this matters but I have an sd card inside my phone. New Malware popup ads? Never had a problem like this on android before... Posted: 30 May 2016 02:19 PM PDT I can't find any information about this online specific to my situation... I just started getting pop up ads last week, usually for cricket mobile in spanish. Sometimes it opens up my browser and sends me to tapit dot go2cloud dot org (dont want to put the real link), which then opens my app store to either Lyft or Uber. I don't know how I got it as I haven't downloaded any new apps recently. I've tried CCleaner and Malware Bytes but neither of them detected it. Does anyone have any resources to help me get rid of this? It would be very appreciated!! Btw I'm on 6.0.1 on my LG Nexus 5, I've never gotten a virus or malware once before so this is really weird!
