YSK: Google Opinion Rewards no longer requires location permission from your phone, this isn't the reason you aren't getting surveys

Posted: 15 Dec 2016 06:43 AM PST

I keep seeing threads where people are talking about Google Opinion Rewards not working, and subsequently blaming location permissions for the app being turned off / non existent.

According to u/idealisms, who claims to be a Googler working on the app (their post history seems to back it up):

We removed the location permission because we weren't using it. If you want to receive location based surveys, you need to make sure you have opted in to Google Location History.

(The original post HERE)

So this isn't the issue, you're probably just in a bad demographic or have answered questions inconsistently. Their original post only got a score of 12, so I thought more people need to be aware of this.

We've been working on the Vimeo TV app for the past few months and we'd love feedback (x-post from r/androidtv)

Original Post

Not too long ago I made a post about the beta of our app. We've responded to all the great feedback and now we're finally live in the play store.

It's been about 6 months in the making with pretty limited resources but we managed to pull our app together. It's something we're all very proud of and we tried to not half-ass yet another app on the Android TV app store.

We wanted to put together an experience that has the look and feel of Android TV but with a little more flair. You can find it in the Play Store on your Android TV or you can install it straight from your browser by going to the link above and clicking "Install" or "Installed" and selecting your TV device.

Some more info about the app if you're interested: Our designer on the project came up with this concept of "blooming" of the information cards. The cards animate with additional lines of info as you get closer to selecting them. We'd love to know how you feel about it.

I also highly recommend creating an account (which is totally free) since a lot of the best features of the app require being logged in. To get you started, I recommend checking out some of these awesome channels!

Thanks!

P.S. We've got tons of other cool features we're planning to add over the next year so hang tight for more cool stuff. We'd also love any and all feedback as regards to bugs, features you want, or things you think we're doing right.
