Thousands of android users over in /r/Nexus6P are experiencing random battery failure. No official response from Google or Huawei on the issue.

Just wanted to bring attention of this issue to the Android community as a whole. We are all specific device owners, but we use a Google product as a whole. Google is ignoring a widespread problem and leaving all of us with a 1 year old phone that will randomly shutdown at any percentage.

Hopefully this post doesn't get removed by the mods. Just trying to get some community support. Who's to say Google won't just throw all the Pixel owners to the curb in a year as well? We can't let them do this sort of thing.

Woke up this morning (yesterday technically. 12/20) just in time to get ready for work and looked over to find my phone has exploded. Luckily I don't keep it on my bed, as you can see it scorched my night stand. I've talked to Samsung and my carrier. The phone had no problems before, no overheating. I think I'm done with Samsung for a while, really gonna miss the photos I had from Africa in the fall. Dammit Samsung, I was still in your corner after the Note 7 stuff too.

UPDATE: these are my notes from a phone call that just transpired from Samsung.

Samsung called. David. Confirming reddit post and events. Probably charged 1-3 hours when it popped. Can offer a replacement if I ship them device, compensation for table. Can only offer a resolution if I send in device and after evaluation. Offered expedited service once it's in. Call ended with them offering to send a return box to my address and my informing them that I was interested in retaining the device after speaking with an attorney that offered assistance.

After a month of fucking around, I actually deliver my promise: OctoPrint is successfully running on Android! Now, I have proof. Right now, my Galaxy S3 is controlling my school's Ultimaker 2+. And through the power of magic it actually prints!

The whole reason why this is so exciting is because a phone supports serial dialout just like a regular Linux machine. It just works, and I can't believe how easy it was.

So, if you've ever wanted go try this out on a phone or a tablet as a server (or a weird side project), rest assured, this actually works. All instructions are linked!

How come most keyboards don't offer a select all, cut and copy shortcuts through the keyboard?

For those who don't know, Swype keyboard lets you swipe from the Swype button to a, c and x to perform select all, copy, and cut operations, respectively, on the text currently in the text field.

And it's such a game changer! I love it. Now, Google released Gboard in-app google access for Android this week and I tried using it. It has swipe text, voice input and the google search from app option so its great and I love it. I would switch over to it IF it had the select all, cut and copy options like Swype does.

They are so useful and I am surprised all keyboards don't do this. Whats up with this? Are there other good keyboard that also have this ability?

I factory reset my N5X yesterday and was expecting to just put in my backup password and have all my 2FAs back up and running so I could finish setting up my device (like I did many times in the past).

Unfortunately, I got a message telling me I had to reset my Authy, and then one saying my account was locked. Next I got the follow messages:

ALERT 1 of 4: Recovery of your 2FA account in process. For security, recovery takes 24 hours. Email support@authy.com if you did not request this.

ALERT 2 of 4: We are reviewing a request to recover your 1FA account. To cancel, open the Authy app.

ALERT 3 of 4: All devices on your 2FA account will soon be removed. Email for help.

I emailed their customer services to find out more and was told that it is down to security protocols required to use Coinbase with Authy. Needless to say I'll be removing Coinbase!

It's been just about 24 hours now and I'm still waiting to get back into my lastpass, and hoping that my 30 day window for my google accounts doesn't com up before this gets resolved.

TL;DR: If you use Authy and have a Coinbase 2FA in there, don't expect it to work right away after a factory reset of your device.

Edit: I'm now back in. Took over 24 hours of being locked out.

Edit 2: Or as /u/Aldimann says, get the chrome extension before flashing. Don't do what I did and only have it on one device.
