Posted: 04 Jun 2016 11:55 AM PDT I could do this on WP, where it would fill in other info about them besides just their phone number, like birthday, and mainly for the picture. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Jun 2016 06:58 AM PDT My phone says I've used 23 of my 24 gigabytes in my internal storage but when you open up the storage only 6 gigabytes are actually being used. How do UK fix this because it won't let me download anything because of "low storage". This happened after trying to move the stuff from my SD card to internal storage. It said the process failed then my internal was full and all the stuff in my SD were still there. [link] [comments] |
Accidentally booted into safe mode? Did I break phone? Posted: 04 Jun 2016 03:21 PM PDT Ok so I was trying to clear my cache partition . But tried to do the steps from memory(I am dumb). I hit the volume down button and powered my phone on at the same time. I then clicked "safe mode". My phone hit the loading screen then it hit a phone icon with a red exclamation mark and triangle around it. I freaked out and tried pressing some buttons nothing happened. I then set it on the bed for a while and waited. It the started by itself. It "seems" to be working fine? Did I break anything? [link] [comments] |

How do I stop my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5's lock screen from rotating? Posted: 04 Jun 2016 02:46 PM PDT I have 'Screen Rotation' disabled, and yet whenever I unlock my tablet, it turns on in landscape mode, then immediately switches to portrait mode. I checked the screen rotation setting while at the lock screen, and it says that it's off, despite it still being capable of rotating. This only seems to happen in the lock screen. I was disabling some junk apps yesterday ... maybe I disabled something important? These are the apps I disabled: [link] [comments] |
Parse error on all APKs but not ADB Posted: 04 Jun 2016 02:40 PM PDT So whenever I download a fully working APK from Chrome on my HTC One (M8) Marshmallow GPe phone and attempt to install it, it gives a parse error. "There was a problem parsing the package." Also, when opening an APK file, it only gives me options to open it with either Nova Launcher or Flashify. Uhm, what?! Why not the package installer? Anyway, I do Nova Launcher, as I don't want to flash it... Then it gives the parse error. The weird thing is that when using adb install apkname.apk, it works totally fine! Is there any way to fix this issue? Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Switching from Windows Phone to Android. Posted: 04 Jun 2016 07:30 AM PDT Hi, I tried Windows Phone out of curiosity. I then bought a Lumia 930. Well, it's a nice platform but after 2 years of clinging into my paltry hope on Windows Phone getting better with the Windows 10 Mobile update, I am now thinking of switching back to Android. Windows Phone has lost its uniqueness and the smoothness that it had before. I have narrowed down my choices to a Nexus 5X (PHP 16480 / $350) and LG G4 ( PHP 17800 / $385). The only thing keeping me from getting the G4 without question is the bootloop issue. So I would like to ask you guys which between these phones would be better in your opinion or do you have another phone to recommend (on the same price range)? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Jun 2016 01:39 PM PDT Installed Marshmallow this morning on my Note 4. Backed up all my pictures and important files to my SD card. Pulled the card before I installed and let it go. I work midnights so I went to sleep. Woke up today and put the card back in and shows as empty. Obviously upset, I plugged into the computer to try to put files back onto the card. Once it opened, the card shows that there is 40+ gigs used on the card but nothing is visible. Any ideas on what I'm supposed to do? I did search the net but not found anyone say that they could see files present when on Windows. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Jun 2016 01:25 PM PDT I know how to do that but I want it to automatically come out of silent mode at 7 am in the morning(Exactly how my Automatic rule for the weekend is set) I searched and searched and nobody seems to have this problem. 1. For some reasons randomly the automatic rules that silence my phone at 12:30 do not activate. I am not sure if its because I was using my phone at that time. I have noticed it happens only on weekends(maybe because I am up texting on weekends beyond my Do not disturb time). I can't find out why that happens. But to fix It I need to just put my phone in silent mode So I can sleep. But the problem is if I do it using the volume key and setting all to silent it won't automatically start ringing in the morning. So how do I do that. Or will it follow the rule that is set? I am just so frustrated with this I might go in for an Apple phone as my next phone(Well Maybe I will just stop using Smartphones instead) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Jun 2016 10:33 AM PDT I purchased a new USB cable for my Samsung Galaxy S5, but now that I try it, the cable does not fit, it almost as if something is stopping it from going all the way in. I tried the cable with my old Nook Color, and it fits fine for that. What could be the problem. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
I need a phone recommendation that is better than a Galaxy S5 Posted: 04 Jun 2016 03:21 PM PDT I'm looking for an upgrade to my Galaxy S5 because it's screen is broken and the cost to fix it is over 300$. My budget is 300-400$ CAD. I'm eyeing the zenfone 3 right now, but when I saw its specs , I couldn't tell if it was better. I use my phone mostly for browsing, reddit, music ,and watching YouTube and Netflix. I would also like something that can maybe run faster than the s5 because my s5 can run very slow especially when I am using the Facebook messenger app, and has a display better or up to par with the s5. Also I would like to buy a phone that's unlocked. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Jun 2016 09:20 AM PDT My Dad's 63, and he wants to get a smartphone for the purpose of staying in touch with family and friends on Viber and Whatsapp. The first time I told him to get an iPhone SE since iOS is easier to use than Android but he's a bit hesitant on it since the SE is for 440$ where I live which is a bit above his budget of 350$ - 400$ .. I am now leaning towards the Galaxy J and A lineup but I'm afraid of choosing a phone that'll be terribly slow also battery life is important for me. So what do you guys recommend? What do Google Now reminders do? Posted: 04 Jun 2016 09:10 AM PDT When I first used Google Now reminders, I assumed it would give me a notification at my set time, but my reminders don't seem to do anything. Am I using them wrong? EDIT: /u/JustRollWithIt pointed out that I needed to enable notifications for Now cards, since they are not enabled by default. My reminders now send me notifications. [link] [comments] |
Why is my regular SMS messenger opening Facebook messenger? Posted: 04 Jun 2016 06:19 AM PDT I have a Note 5. I've always used the regular text messenger with it. I also use Facebook messenger from time to time on PC and phone but they've always been totally separate. I've changed nothing on my phone whatsover but last night I sent a regular text message to a friend and low and behold their little Facebook messenger chat icon pops and the screen goes to Facebook messenger and the chat screen comes up and says I have sent an SMS message. If I receive a text message then their Facebook chat icon pops up as well. I sent a text to my son last night (he doesn't have a facebook account). Then a chat icon pops up from someone I've never texted or messaged saying I've sent an sms to them. Does anyone know how I can get this to stop? [link] [comments] |
Button to view VR panorama gone. Posted: 04 Jun 2016 11:10 AM PDT I've recently upgraded my LG G2 to Android 5 (yes, very late) and now the ability to view my VR panoramas (a.k.a. photoscapes) is gone. [link] [comments] |
Any way to back up WhatsApp photos by contact? Posted: 04 Jun 2016 08:51 AM PDT I have a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact on 6.0.1. When you load up a chat on WhatsApp you can view all the media for that contact. Is there any way or any app where you can backup all media for only that contact? I want to backup and then delete the pictures and videos for certain contacts, but outside of manually selecting every picture and video I've ever been sent by that contact, I can't find a way to do it. Thanks for any help. [link] [comments] |
Buying first android phone for photo backups Posted: 04 Jun 2016 08:41 AM PDT I'm through-hiking the PCT and need a phone to backup photographs taken with a camera, look at maps and send emails. Ideally I'd like a somewhat robust or water resistant phone but I can perhaps circumvent this problem with a case or dry bag. I'll take roughly 8GB of photographs per day for half a year which is why I'm specifically looking for USB3 phones. The Asus Zenfone 3 and the HTC10 have both caught my attention but I don't believe they're water resistant to any great extent.

Would an LG Volt 2 work with a 128GB MicroSDXC Card? Posted: 04 Jun 2016 10:50 AM PDT I want to get the LG Volt 2 and I want as much storage as possible, but I'm not sure if the Volt 2 would support a MicroSDXC card. According to LG's Website, it supports MicroSDHD (up to 32gb). However, it says the same thing for the original Volt 1 and according to SanDisk's own website, it says that a 128GB microSD card would work on the LG Volt 1. And according to GSM Arena, the Volt 1 supports a 64GB sd card (so MicroSDXC). So we've already determined that LG's own spec sheet isn't accurate for the Volt 1 which can in fact support MicroSDXC cards, so wouldn't the same be true for the Volt 2? I couldn't imagine that they would downgrade the newer version... Also, according to this site the Volt 2 does support MicroSDXC, but I'm not sure if that's credible as no other site says that. So what do you think? It would be great if someone here has this phone and can test it, but if not I'd like to hear what you think. [link] [comments] |
S6 edge just installed a bunch of apps that I already had downloaded and some others? Posted: 04 Jun 2016 10:24 AM PDT I was reading a book and went to look at my phone and it had a bunch of completed installations and it was doing a lot more after I realised. It downloaded Microsoft Word and other microsoft office aples and Samsung billing along with this system file that was about language? I don't know what is going on. [link] [comments] |
Setting up my profile on the phone. Posted: 04 Jun 2016 10:22 AM PDT I'm trying to set up my profile within the OS, but it won't give me an option to pick my existing me contact, or merge the two. Do I just have to remake it from scratch? [link] [comments] |
Hi! If this was Car Talk, I think my problem would for sure Stump the Chumps! Posted: 04 Jun 2016 05:19 AM PDT Hi! Ok so I think I have a doozy of a 'problem' here. I put that in quotes because it's a not exactly a problem - the phone still boots all the way up so it's not bricked or anything. However I now need to figure it out, and I still want to get the phone working the way I want it to. So on to the details. Phone is a Nexus 5x, previously owned. It had a Qi plate in it, but it was removed at my request. Phone charges fine, but that's all that happens over USB - only charging. Phone is currently running the Pure Nexus ROM and has a SU thing installed as well. Has TWRP for recovery software as well. There's no recovery image though, which seems unfortunate. I cannot change the USB connection type away from charging in the developer options. Or rather I can, but as soon as I reclick the dialog window, or switch away from the menu it's back to charging. Windows 10 never notices that the phone is connected as well. ADB and fastboot also, of course, don't see it as well. However when I boot the phone in fastboot mode, Windows 10 does recognize that there's a USB device there, but not that it's a phone/android device. Windows 10 absolutely refuses to use the Google USB drivers so I can't tell it 'hey stupid, that's a phone'. What this is telling me though is that it's a software problem, not a hardware problem. Windows 10 throws the "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed." So while I have some ideas for how to fix this, I'd like to hear other options as well. 1 - Find a TWRP disk image that I can load via airdroid and use to fix whatever's wrong with the USB data connection. I'd prefer that it was a stock (google) android version for the 5x though. Maybe someone here even has one they can share? =) 2 - Figure out what terminal command I can do through TWRP to get the USB data connection working or tell windows "Hey stupid, I'm a phone!". 3 - Put a linux distro on my desktop and hope that I can boss linux around better than I can boss Win 10 around. Then load up the stock image/reflash the phone to stock. Other thoughts and ideas greatly appreciated, even just commentary on what you think will and won't work, all greatly appreciated. If anyone wants more detail I can try and provide it as well. [link] [comments] |
Restrict apps connecting to the internet on roaming Posted: 04 Jun 2016 07:50 AM PDT I have to use roaming but I'd like to keep the connecting apps at bay: Telegram and whatsapp should be able to connect to the internet but I don't need facebook checking for news or likes or any other synced app for that matter. Is there any sort of way to control which apps connect to the internet, besides the privacy guard embedded in cyanogenmod?: My model is an LGG3 with stock rooted. FYI: Travelling with a spanish operator to germany; i already checked and every MB is going to cost me 0.06€, so, 200 MB would be like 12 € more or less: Hence my question. Thanks!
